Why a QR code is not scanning

Work through the physical image, the scanning device and the decoded content separately.

Check the image

Look for clipped corners, missing light borders, blur and reflections. Try the original image or a higher resolution export. If multiple codes are visible, crop to one.

Simplify the design

Use dark square modules on white, preserve four quiet zone modules and remove or reduce the logo. Extra error correction can help with damage but also increases code density.

Check the content

A code that decodes but opens an error page has a destination problem. Copy the decoded URL and inspect its spelling. Generation and decoding do not check whether a website is active.

Try another input

If a webcam cannot focus, use a saved image. If a phone does not recognize a contact or event payload, try a compatible app. Camera permissions and supported actions vary by browser and operating system.

Try the scanner, generator or QR checker. Your images and QR payloads are processed locally.

Install Valid QR Scan

In your browser menu, choose “Install app” or “Add to Home Screen”. On iPhone or iPad, open Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Safari on Mac, use File, then Add to Dock.

Visit once online and wait for “Offline tools ready”. Scanning and generation can then work without a connection. Opening a web destination still needs internet.
